As the main care giver to a complex need young adult, my nervous system regulation is crucial, for both of us.
Using any respite time I get well is what stops this particular weeble from falling over.
And so, I am at my yurt for 36 hours (possibly 48, if the winds align).
What I know about the ways I have found is:
* I can get into relaxed state quite quickly these days (it used to be that in a 2.5 day break most of it was used up just landing)
* The quality of the time I get is much higher.
* I can switch on ‘meerkat mode’ fast once home, and more importantly switch it off with ease.
And I take this lived experience into both my 121 sessions and my teaching – medicine for when life life’s you, ways that help you stay on track.
